Super Fun Weekend!

We had a jammed packed weekend of fun, fun, fun!  On Friday evening, Grandma and Grandpa came over for dinner.  Bryce made some homemade pizza and as usual, Abby inhaled a ton of prosciutto (thanks to Costco for making it more affordable!).  Here is a quick picture of her filing her toe nails Friday evening.

It never ceases to amaze me at how much she copies me when I don't thnk she's noticing.  :)

Then on Saturday morning, after eating a full breakfast, Abby asked for Cheerios with milk.  She's tried eating cereal before (several months ago) after watching me and decided she didn't like it "with the milk" so I never pushed it again.  But this time she asked again and loved it!  I know lots of kids her age eat cereal but it's a new thing at the Baker House!

My big girl!

Later that afternoon, we met up with several friends at a new brewery called No Label Brewing Co. here in Katy, TX.  They have tours on Saturday from 1-3 PM and it's held outdoors so we had a little picnic and Abby had fun playing with so many kids!  The beer was eh.  Bryce's favorite was their seasonal Milk Stout but everything else wasn't that impressive.  Not bad, but not impressive.

We brought our picnic blanket and for some reason, Abby thought the blanket was dirty so she got a napkin and started wiping the blanket!!!  Again, guilty as charged, she got that from me.  Oops.

This went on for several minutes.  The other kids were obviously oblivious (like normal kiddos!) to the dirt while Abby wiped away.  Sorry Abby!  I got it from Lao Nian and now you have "the itch" too!  It's up to you to break the cycle when you become a mommy!  I believe in you!

And in usual fashion, she fell asleep on the way home.  Only this time, she slept from 3:30 to 7:30 PM and we still went to bed at 10 PM.  We tried to get her up almost every half hour after 6 PM but to no avail.  When they are that tired, there is nothing you can do.

Then on Sunday morning we had a playdate with the Hull and Yu Family!  I've known Laura since the early 80's and Janice and Laura met in college.  Abby had so much fun with Reyna and Aaron!  Thank you guys for coming over!

Abby (2 yr 8 mth), Reyna (1 wk til 3), Aaron (2 yr 2 mth)
Playing with Aaron's 2 year old birthday gift that I was 2 months late in giving.  It was a hit with all 3 kiddos!

Toddlers + Capri Sun + chicken nuggets + pizza = Hog heaven

We were soooo pleased to see how well Reyna jie jie and Abby played together!  Here they both are pai yi pai Laura a yi while she "slept".  :)  They both understand Chinese but tend to respond in English.  Seriously, best playmate yet.  No arguing, sharing really well, putting jewelry on each other, even sharing ketchup during lunch.  Soooo cute.

We asked them to take a picture together and Abby reached for Reyna's hand!!
(Please excuse my dirty oven).

My favorite picture.  :)  Two halvsies hugging.

Abby watching Reyna put on her own socks - something she hasn't mastered yet.

On a WONDERFUL SIDE NOTE, we found out Reyna is a veteran pottying pro and we hyped up to Abby the fact that Reyna had Hello Kitty underpants on in a positive way during the whole playdate.  So literally out of the blue after the Hull Family left, Abby took her diaper off and asked for her Little Mermaid underpants!!  We quickly obliged and lo and behold, she wore her underpants for the rest of the day and peed in her potty a whopping 5 times!!!!!  So I'm continuing the trend today and so far she's peed in the potty once!  And this morning, she didn't even tell me she had to potty.  She just got up, walked to her potty and took her underpants off all by herself.  We may have turned a HUGE corner here!  We did not expect the potty training to make such progress this weekend but we'll take what we can get!  We should have had Reyna jie jie here months ago!  :)  It really helps to have a role model around.  Thank you Reyna!  We are this much closer to our goal of having this one OUT of diapers before Baby Baker #2 arrives.

We spent the rest of the evening watching football and this is Bryce's favorite way to watch: lying comfortably on the couch with his favorite little girl on one side (used to be me but I'm too big now) and remote in the other hand.  These two are too cute together.  Abby loves to watch football with her Daddy too.  {You can't tell, but she's got her underpants on!!}  It only took a few hours for Daddy to teach Abby what a wedgie is too - when your underpants are stuck up your butt!  Way to go Bryce!
