Cankles

I thought "cankles" was a pretty common term but I'm discovering that isn't the case. So I'm here to educate those who don't know and to update you on my recent, more permanent (well, at least until the baby is born), pregnancy transformation. Only I'm constantly wearing flip flops (even to work!) instead of heels (which are a big no-no, per my doc). These last few days have been a challenge. My body is starting to become physically exhausted due to all the water weight and the baby gaining weight. I can't tell the difference but they are compounding exponentially. Sleeping has finally become a nightly challenge - which says a lot for someone like me who can sleep through hurricanes. My cute little basketball belly turned into more of a medicine ball and now it's starting to look like I swallowed an exercise ball. Let the spreading begin! :) Even though I complain a lot, I still love being pregnant and would do it again in a heart beat.

30th Birthday Outing

Thanks everyone for making it out to dinner and Pub Fiction for R&R's 30th Birthday Party! :) Typically Ruby and I have big birthday bashes but with MB being out of the country and me being 8 months pregnant, we decided to keep it low key and it was perfect. Here's a pic of everyone having dinner at Collina's. Thanks, UP, for taking the pic!

It was prom night for some young kiddos and us ladies posed for a quick pic in front of their limo - haha!

Last pic - birthday shot for the birthday girls, compliments of AM! Don't worry, mine was just a fruit punch concoction. :)

Baby Shower and Week 34

I've gotten behind on blogging! These are just a few pics from the baby shower Ruby, Ams, Kim, Janice and my family threw for Bryce, me and Baby Baker. :) Everyone did a great job decorating and planning everything - we really appreciate it! It was great to see old friends again as well. Thanks to all that made the road trip to Houston too!

Thanks VH for the AWESOME homemade baby blanket! :)

Overhead shot of our wonderful guests. :)

Thanks for everything Bobo and Ruby!

Quick baby update: I'm getting HUGE at a rapid rate! They say you gain the most in the last month and it's so true. I can see a difference every day. The swelling has not gotten any better. My ankles are actually bruised for the past week from all the pressure of swelling. My hands have decided to join in on the fun and I can't even make a fist anymore! This causes joint pains in every knuckle but I'm just going to suck it up for the next month. I finally started to get heart burn but only once or twice - not bad compared to other stories I've heard. The nursery is coming along! We have some more final touches to make before I post pictures. :) Stay tuned! Here's a recent picture of my ever growing belly.

Week 33

Today starts week 33! :) Time really flies - the first trimester seems so long ago. I saw the doctor yesterday and everything was good again. I was a bit worried about my blood pressure but turns out it was still normal. If anything, it was TOO low - 100/60 - I think it had to do with me falling asleep in the waiting room. I get that from my dad - we can sleep anywhere, anytime, anyhow, no matter how loud or chaotic it is. It's great. :) Our baby's heartbeat is really strong and my belly is growing accordingly. I've put on 26 pounds so far and was told to maintain it from here on out. Yeah right! I'll do my best but we'll see. :P Btw the doctor says my swelling is bad but not THAT bad and instead of a low sodium diet, he said I should be on a NO sodium diet. :( Again, I've been doing my best to avoid salt but it's in everything!!

Week 32

Just wanted to post an updated belly pic. :) I seem to be growing by the day now - it's sort of torpedo shaped - haha!

Doctor's appointment tomorrow - we'll see what he says about my swelling. I'll keep y'all posted!

Work Baby Shower, Baldwin Move & Roof Raking Invention

What a busy weekend! :) It all started off on Friday with a wonderful work baby shower hosted by my friend MW who made the most decadant desserts! She is the best cook/baker that I know so I knew everything would just taste unbelievable. She made 2 types of cupcakes that I dare say taste better than cupcakes from Crave! She also made pecan walnut chocolate chip cookies that even Bryce enjoyed (who doesn't typically like nuts in desserts). We also enjoyed "B" shaped short bread cookies and cranberry iced tea punch. The theme was pink, pink, pink! :) Thank you MW for planning and hosting such a wonderful event in honor of Baby Baker!!

Then on Saturday we helped my sister and BIL move from their townhouse to their new house 4 blocks away. It was a fun group effort with all of our friends. :) Obviously I did not help with the heavy lifting but I at least help put away items in the kitchen pantry. :) Almost everyone except Bryce and I had even participated in the ConocoPhilips Rodeo Run that morning so their legs were already tired! But the move went really quickly between 5 SUVs and about 12 people. Great team work! Afterwards everyone enjoyed BEvERages on the front porch. :)

Then Sunday was our day to run way overdue errands. First I hit up Walgreens, Party City, Michael's and Target. Then later in the afternoon Bryce and I hit up Academy, REI, Costco, Lowe's and HEB all in one day! The only noteworthy purchase we made was a new contraption Bryce thought of to help rake the pine needles off of our roof. This is the alternative to what he did in the past which was to harness and tie off to the chimney and dangerously scale our metal roof with a rake and blower. We were originally looking for some sort of telescoping aluminum pole to attach the rake to but then we found two 1"x10' schedule 40 conduit instead. This way Bryce could just climb up a ladder and reach the pine needles - MUCH SAFER for the dad-to-be! And it worked like a charm!
