It's a miracle

Well, logically it makes complete sense but it feels like a small miracle for me anyhow.  A little background info first: Kirk, Ruby and I have been going to the same eye doctor since we all started wearing glasses (3rd grade for me which is what...22 years-ish).  I've gotten every pair of glasses I own from him and every single contact - from gas permeable to toric.  I needed to order new contacts so I went in for my usual eye exam yesterday and Dr. Tou says to me "Have you NOT been looking at a computer every day recently?"  I say "Um, yes, I've only been working part time since July and I quit working all together for a month now.  Why?"  He says "Because your near sightedness is actually better for the first time ever!"  Woohoo!!!  Both my eyes actually IMPROVED by 0.50!!  I actually had to purchase contacts that were LESS intense!  It was like music to my ears.  Don't get me wrong, I'm still blind as a bat and my astigmatism is still the same.  Left eye -5.75, right eye -6.25.

The living room carpet is going to be installed today - will post update later.  I'm excited because Abby will finally have free range to crawl instead of just the living room rug and couch!

Houston, we have a tooth!

Just as I was saying she shows no signs of any teeth, today (well, now it's yesterday) it just popped up out of nowhere!  To the best of my knowledge, Abby's bottom left tooth decided to crown somewhere between the hours of 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM on January 27, 2010 (9 months and 4 days).  I've been doing regular tooth checks for MONTHS now.  Surprisingly she isn't at all fussy or uncomfortable with the tooth - it's just another day for her.  I may eat my words in a few days...will keep you posted.  No pictures yet - it's so hard to capture.  Off to bed now....

Abby is 9 months old!

Plus 4 days!  I've been so behind on blogging.  I ordered a laptop and it hasn't arrived yet so I've resigned myself to using the desktop which is in another room which I can't get to whilst watching little Abby (hence the early morning post - she's asleep!).  Abby turned 9 months old this past Saturday and we had her 9 month well check this morning.  She's 20 lb 4 oz and 28.25" tall - both just above 75%.  This means that since her 8 month check-up, she has grown 1.75" and 1 lb 4 oz.  Our little girl is growing too fast for my liking!  Thankfully she's still cuddle sized - my favorite.

It's so strange that she now spends half her time crawling and the other half vertical (with at least one hand leaning on something sturdy).  She tries standing on her own sometimes but it only lasts a few seconds.  She is still our happy, chubby baby.  The little drool monster still shows no signs of any teeth so we can still enjoy her gummy smile.  :D  Here area few pics from the past 2 weeks-ish.

Abby had avocados for the first time.  In case you can't tell, she didn't like it but ate it nonetheless.  That's our little piglet!

Here she is crawling around on the new carpet before we moved the furniture back in.

Can you say "crackberry?"
Don't worry, this is Bryce's old phone (aka Abby's new phone).

The Tickle Monster made another appearance!  :)

Some more failed attempts at pigtail pictures.  These pigtails are up high vs. down low like before.  My theory is that with 6 not-so-great pictures, you'll get the idea.

Abby going through Round 2 of her tongue-sticking-out phase.

She is currently in her sucking-upper-lip phase (hence "Got Prunes?").

I just love the innocence of this picture...

vs. "I will bite you with my gums!  I mean it!"

Got prunes?

Hahaha....I couldn't resist.  :)  Our little Abby will eat anything.  We don't have a picky eater at all.  You wouldn't know it from the picture but she even enjoys prunes!  We like prunes because it makes Abby regular.  :)  Anyhow, lately she's been sucking on her upper lip and this is the result when she does it while eating.

Memory Lane

I found a picture of me and Ruby when we were probably 3 months old.  Both Bryce and I were chubby babies but I think I might have him beat in this picture.  You can definitely understand why the doctor said I had the better position between the 2 of us.  I was a good 1.5 lbs. heavier than Ruby when we were born.  Is is not obvious we are fraternal twins??

Ruby: What's up?
Rosa: Feed me!

Only Kirk and Ruby (and our parents, of course) will probably understand the next couple of pictures but here's Abby with her first mun-chi-chi (sp?).  Proud moment for me...confused moment for both Bryce and Abby.

Abby continues to clap her hands together and perfect her hello/bye-bye waves.  She still can't get enough of her little books.  I took a 4 minute video (thinking it would only last a few seconds) of her "reading" out loud to herself.  She can do this all day.  In the past week, she has really become more and more vocal and we love hearing her voice and different tones, random syllables, laughter, huffing, squealing, etc.  She's endless entertainment.

And lastly, Abby LOVES remote controls (must get that from her DAD) so we always have to hide them from her.  Typically this is behind couch pillows but our smart, sneakly little Abby has figured it out!  Now they are in a new hiding place but shhh...we won't tell you where that is!  :)

Let there be carpet!

What a difference carpet can make.  Now it doesn't echo in the room.  All that is left is the mirror, touch up paint, finishing the electrical and adding the cabinet hardware and we're in business!  Then comes the fun part of buying new towels and bathroom accessories.  Gotta start saving up my BBB 20% off coupons....  :)

Can't post without a quick pic of Xiao Xiao.  :)

I stand corrected!

Just as I was saying Abby hasn't quite figured out how to clap her hands...she does it about 2 hours later and clapped for the rest of the night!  :)  She smiles really big as she claps and we find ourselves smiling and clapping back at her.  Silly, I know....but what can I say?

About a week ago she learned to wave at you when you say "bye-bye" or she'll just wave at you if you wave at her.  And now she'll wave at anything - the fridge, the laundry basket, the couch, etc.  Too cute.  :)

Somehow she just pulled a 12 hour shift so Mommy's going to hit the sack now.  Carpet is getting installed tomorrow afternoon - should make the room look completely different.  Can't wait!
