2 month check-up

Abby is actually 9 weeks and 4 days when we went for our 2 month check-up today. She's 22.5" tall (50%) and 12 lbs 4 oz (75-90%) and progressing on schedule so far. :) Abby got 3 shots today and we both cried a little but then everything was okay by the time we got home. Luckily Bryce was there to be the strong one! Abby cried from the shots and I cried because it broke my heart to hear her cry in pain. :( Then we held each other until the tears dried up. :)

This is Abby's "I just got 3 shots and feel blah" face.

Abby's had some congestion lately so I bought her a humidifier to put in her room. It's shaped like a little green frog - I'll let you know how it works out.

This is just a cute picture of Abby napping with her first doll (thank you Mr. & Mrs. Tong!)

Bryce took the day off today so I was able to run some errands today. First time for me to be out and about in the late afternoon and holy moly it's HOT outside! I think I'll stick to staying indoors.

Paparazzi

Geez, you learn how to smile, laugh and look cute and the paparazzi (a.k.a. Mom & Dad) are all over you!

Maybe they won't notice me with these on - what do you think? You like?

Happy Father's Day!

Happy 1st Father's Day, Bryce! :) Today Abby is 8 weeks and 3 days old. In the last week or so she had started to smile and giggle and make more eye contact. She is more responsive when she's awake and last night we actually slept for 6 hours straight through the night! She's growing up so fast. Here is a tribute to Daddy & Abby pictures.

Daddy and his laughing Abby!

I love you, Daddy!

Daddy, are you imitating me? Okay - it must be because I'm so cute. :)

Today we had lots of family guests over for Father's Day so we put Abby in a cute new outfit. Thanks Aunt PL for the romper! :)

This past week Abby got to enjoy her musical fairyland. Although it's not quite musical because M&D decided not to put the batteries in it yet - we like quiet toys for now. :)

We also made the discovery that Abby really enjoys sitting in the swing. I love how it's able to make her go to sleep. What a life saver some nights.

And lastly, Abby definitely has her Daddy's eyebrows and eyelashes! :D

What? I have a thumb?

I think we have a future thumb sucker in our hands. Either that our else she was just really hungry and sucking on anything close to her mouth. :P

Someone had a leaky poo/pee diaper this morning so she got a full on bath. Abby loves bath time and is always so calm after she's dried off. Gotta love the belly rolls....

Things only a close friend or spouse would point out...

Yes, Ruby and I were born in Houston but sometimes you wouldn't know it by the way we talk. We apparently have a tendency to directly translate Chinese into our every day speech or else we picked up phrases from our parents that were not quite proper English - but we never really noticed it - until our friend and spouses pointed it out. :)

It all began freshman year in college with our dear friend Amee. When either Ruby and I would make a phone call and the other line was busy, we would say "it's line busy" instead of "the line is busy." Who knew??

One time when Bryce and I were making a road trip, I set my car to "cruise speed at 70 mph." Little did I know I actually "set my cruise control to 70 mph."

Here's one that Bryce has pointed out to me and Matt did the same to Ruby and we later found out we were both called out for it by our respective spouses. Apparently at one point we both said to our spouses we were "eating our medicine" instead of "taking our medicine." And in our defense, we tried to explain that in Chinese, the word "to eat" and "take" for medicine is the same!!

Something similar happened at the Baker household yesterday. Bryce had planned to mow the lawn and wash the cars at some point on Sunday. With his skin, I try to encourage him to do these things either earlier in the day or around 5 PM when the sun is less intense. But in my case, I said "when the sun isn't at its biggest." Do people say that? Because in Chinese, if it's a sunny day, you literally say "the sun was very big" so it made sense in my mind. But alas, Bryce corrected me once again.

For all you ABC's out there, you know what I'm talking about. I'll make a point to teach Abby the correct way...

Happy 6 weeks old!

Abby's 6 weeks birthday is bittersweet because while I'm thrilled with how much she has grown and changed, I also can't believe half of my maternity leave is officially over!! So sad and the time is flying by WAY too fast. No more paycheck for 6 more weeks - GASP!

Abby has had a slew of regular family visitors - what a lucky girl! In my last post I mentioned how we needed to flip flop Abby's day-night sleep schedule for the sake of my sanity and luckily she did! We've been on a good sleep cycle for 4+ days now and I couldn't be more pleased. We've taken Abby out for strolls around the block now that she's bigger. She seems to really enjoy the outdoors but still hasn't adjusted to the sun's bright light. She's got sensitive eyes just like her daddy. If only they made little baby girl Oakley's so she and Bryce could match. :P But for now, a little strawberry hat will have to do.

I believe I've posted a picture like this before but it's my favorite so here it is again. I just LOVE when she sleeps on my chest. Bryce says I spoil her but I just can't help myself. :)

I've never quite mastered the pouty lower lip thing (Ams and Ruby have me beat big time) but we fall for Abby's every time. We're such suckers!

We're not sure how much Abby weighs now but we do know she's getting chubbier! Thigh wrinkles are my favorite.

This is just my favorite picture of the week.

This weekend we're going to Lao Nian and Lao Yie's house to see some visitors that would like to meet Abby. We are looking forward to the "road trip" - it'll be the farthest Abby's traveled yet. And the Clements are visiting on Sunday so this weekend is going to be so much fun! Until next time!
