Marshmallow Woman

Updated pic of me:

Does anyone know of any good low sodium diet recipes?? Seriously, send them my way. At my last doctor's appointment, it was confirmed that I've gained about 5 lbs of shear water weight since my last visit 2 weeks before. I thought I had been doing well and staying away from salt but apparently not. I'm seeing signs of soon-to-be cankles and my knees are already beginning to disappear. My thigh just transition right into my shins. Yuck! Despite my swelling, our baby is doing well and growing according to schedule. :) We ordered a stroller and it should be arriving today - can't wait to test it out!

Crib Asseeembbbblll-ed

No one is going to get the title unless they are a huge Anchorman fan like we are...

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

The crib arrived on Monday and we just spent Valentine's late afternoon assembling it. It was a lot simpler to put together than the matching dresser. The baby room is slowly coming together! :)

On the menu tonight at La Casa de Baker is filet mignon, grilled shrimp, haricot vert and risotto with peas, carrots, mushrooms, onions and prosciutto. The only missing item on the menu is a nice bottle of wine...I may have to bust out the non-alcoholic sparkling cider instead. *sigh*

Week 28 - The 3rd trimester begins

I can't believe how fast the time is flying by! :) Will I eventually one day miss having a huge belly with my CG all thrown off, the discomfort when sleeping, constant peeing, strange hunger pains and thick hair and nails? I hope so. :) Ruby wanted me to post another update belly pic so here it is!

Turns out the crib is not back ordered anymore so we should be getting it soon. Can't wait!

Good news!

No gestational diabetes! Bring on the sweets! Just kidding - I still need to eat a balanced diet of 1800 calories a day. :P

On a side note, the crib we ordered is now on back order until Feb. 24th! The books I've read mentioned such things happening so the best bet is to order EARLY and I'm glad we did because we still have plenty of time. I just don't like the wait!

Week 27 and Dresser

I'm officially one week away from beginning my 3rd trimester. :) I feel like the time is really flying by. Last Monday I found out I failed the first gestational diabetes test and I went in for the 2nd test last Friday. For the 2nd test, they draw blood from you 4 times in 3 hours. I surprised myself at how well I handled that since I'm such a needle-phobic. My poor vein was all angry by the end of it all and I still can't fully extend my arm comfortably - but I know this will pass. Something like 80% of the people who fail the first test end up passing the second test so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I get my results on Monday. Other than that, the baby is doing great and growing at the rate she is supposed to be growing so far. We can't wait to meet her!

We ordered a dresser that goes with the crib and we spent this morning assembling it. I LOVE assembling things. :) Bryce and I worked on it together and here is the final result.

I must say the instructions for the assembly of the dresser were poor. I would probaby give it a C- at best. They misnamed some parts (right was labeled left and vice versa), illustrations were inaccurate, a couple of steps were out of order, etc. By the end, we were a bit peeved but the end result was satisfactory. Unfortunately the crib has not been shipped so we're anxiously awaiting that next.

So far we've had a very productive weekend so I'm ready to relax and watch the Super Bowl tonight at home. The weather could not be any better either. :)

Sewing, new computer and baby registries

What a productive weekend! Friday night we had dinner with my parents. It was an early Chinese New Year dinner since my sis and bro will be out of town next weekend. Fung's Kitchen - you know you love it! Then Bryce's parents came over on Saturday night for dinner. Bryce made bruschetta for appetizers, grilled up some prime NY strip steaks, asparagus and made stuffed mushrooms. Check out the twin mushroom!! I've seen my share of double yolk eggs (my dad always showed Ruby and me when he found one) but never a double "headed" mushroom!

While Bryce was cooking, my MIL taught me how to use my new sewing machine! It's just a lot easier when someone actually SHOWS you how to use it vs. reading the instructions. Of course, in hindsight, the instructions now make more sense. Here are a few pics of my new skillz. :) My next step is to make a pillow. Stay tuned!

All last week Bryce has been waiting patiently for his various computer parts to be delivered. It all started when I got him Grand Theft Auto IV for Christmas. It became apparent that his current video card was extremely out of date. As you know, one thing led to antoher and now we have a whole new computer that is SUPER FAST!! And he can now play his game and the new video card is awesome. :)

And finally I spent all Sunday finally tackling the daunting task of registering for baby stuff!! We're not quite done yet but at least we finally started. It's actually pretty fun once you get started. :) Much like wedding registries, there's always more stuff than you think and it all adds up quick.

We finally got a rug for our living room!

It only took almost 3 years but we finally found just the right rug for our living room. No more cold feet on the tile! :) It's also now a no-shoe zone. I ordered a rug padding to put underneath but that hasn't arrived yet; can't wait to get it.

Here is a quick belly picture too. She's getting bigger!
