"Sleep like a baby"

Abby brings new meaning to "sleep like a baby."  It's good to know she can even sleep through jack hammering not 50 feet from her crib.  I was a bit worried but no, no problem at all for our little Abby.  It was as if nothing was going on.  Again, that's the super duper "Chen" gene.

Dual shower heads here we come!!

Piping for 2 sinks!

Plumbing ain't cheap but this will be so worth it in the end.  Next on the Gantt Chart (...JUST KIDDING, there is no Gantt Chart and I haven't the slightest what the critical path is....) is electrical, sheet rocking, then shower tiling.  Can't wait!  The weather couldn't be better for all of this too.

On a sad side note, Abby has been "self weaning" this past week.  :(  I originally said I would nurse for 6 months but I kept going (I just love it) and thought I would stop at 9 months.  But no, nature beat me to it.  Abby's appetite is getting really big, her attention span is shorter and I'm making less and less.  I suppose there are a lot of upsides to not nursing.  I'll just focus on that instead.  I'll just have to wait until Baby Baker #2!  :)

Here are a few Abby pics too:

Girls Sunday Brunch

This past Sunday we had a Girls Sunday Brunch at Benjy's.  It was fun to get all dressed up for a delicious meal and hang out with my mom and Ruby.  :)  Then we headed back to Ruby's house where we posed for pics in front of her Christmas tree.  I know...it's early but it was on a test run to make sure all the lights worked.  And they did!

Our little Abby is such a good eater.  She's not picky and she seems to have a bottomless tummy.  She's part Chen alright!!  :)  So far she really likes peas, carrots and pears.  Here are a few pea pics.

Thanks KS for recommending the Bumpkin bib!  Works great, easy to clean and never stains.  :)

Farewell, outdated master bath

Let the renovations BEGIN!  Today is Day 1 of our master bathroom renovation.  This is something we have been meaning to do for years now and it's finally coming to fruition.  Here are a few before picture.

This small closet on the left is going to be closed up to make the shower bigger.

We get to say good riddens to the peach and black granite counter top.  Putting in 2 sinks in its place.  New window and corner shelves.

Putting in a new toilet and this is where the shower will be extended on the right.

Our old disgusting shower tiles that are older than we are.  Goodbye!

Since today is Day 1 of the renovations, we're knee deep into the demo phase.  We're getting new carpet in the master bedroom and 4 new recessed light fictures.  Here are a few pics:

WOOHOO!!  :)  We're excited!

6 month pics

Abby had her 6 month pictures taken and here are a few.  Enjoy!

p.s. Pathetically, this was the first time I have EVER scanned a picture before......

New look, new tricks

Can you tell I got bored and started messing with the blog background?  It's been over a year so I thought it was time for some change.  A certain Aunt of Abby's has been requesting more pictures so here goes!

I just like this picture because I think Abby looks cute.  :)  She's sitting up really well now.  Check out the long hair.  Her bangs reach her eyes now so I got her some little barrettes.  You like?  In case you are wondering about the back of her hair, it's a full on mullet and it's about 1" or 2" below her neck - depending on where you think her neck rolls begin and end.

This is a chubby baby shot.  I absolutely LOVE thigh rolls.  They are the best.

A few days ago Abby learned how to make a new face.  A mean ol' grumpy face!  We're not sure if she really knows what it means or if she just enjoys seeing our reaction to her scrunched up face but it's there nonetheless.  She furrows her brow and makes pouty lips now.  Gone are the days of only cute smiles and giggles!!  :)

I caught Abber's red handed with her hands in the basket!  She's a fast army crawler!!

These last few pics are of little Abby all passed out - sometimes while in the middle of playing with her dolls.  She doesn't like to sleep on her back so you KNOW she's tired.

My new talent

Since becoming a mother, I have gotten really good at doing many things with just one hand while balancing a baby in the other.  Here are just a few that come to mind:
  1. Make a bottle
  2. Doing squats to pick things off the floor (i.e. doll, toy, burp cloth, remote, phone, etc.)
  3. Blow my nose (Pam, I'm still not as good as you but I'm gettin' there)
  4. Taking a velcro bib off
  5. Putting on a sock (because they NEVER stay on)
  6. Pick a boogie out of Abby's nose
  7. Refill the Brita (which is hard for me since I STILL have carpel tunnel in my hands...)
  8. Check the mail
  9. Load laundry
  10. Eat a bowl of cereal
You get the idea.

Last night was Halloween and once again, we didn't get any trick-or-treaters.  I'm actually ok with that because I didn't have to worry about letting mosquitoes in the house.  :)  And lucky for us, Abby slept the extra hour due to day light savings and that meant we did too!  Then again, she is half Chen so she should be able to sleep through hurricanes, alarms, concerts, etc.
